Today, Monday, the Russian news agency TASS reported that the Russian Interior Ministry has put US Senator Lindsey Graham on the wanted list.
On Sunday, Graham decried Russia’s criticism of his support for Ukraine, saying he simply praised the spirit of resistance the Ukrainians had in the face of the “Russian invasion” with Washington’s help.
According to Russian media, the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, has instructed the opening of a criminal case regarding the anti-Russian statements made by US Senator Lindsey Graham in Kiev.
And the committee published on its channel on “Telegram”: “The head of the Russian Investigation Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed the Main Investigation Department to open a criminal case regarding the statements of US Senator (Lindsey Graham) about the killing of the Russians .. The investigators of the Main Investigative Committee will provide an appropriate legal assessment of this incident.” .
Russian media reported that Graham, during a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky, described the killing of the Russians as the “most successful” investment of money by the US authorities as part of aid to Ukraine.
And the Russian media added that Graham said during the meeting, which was published by the newspaper service, to Zelensky: “The Russians are dying … we have never spent money in this quality,” adding that “this matter is the most successful spending of money by Washington as part of Kiev’s assistance.”
The decision came against the backdrop of the emergence of a video clip of a recent meeting held by the Ukrainian President, with Graham, on social networks last Friday. Zelensky thanked the United States for its help in defending freedom
Ukrainians. In response, Graham seemed to say, “And the Russians are dying… It’s the best money we’ve ever spent.”
However, the word “dying” was not clearly audible, and some observers speculated that Graham might have been saying “they are defeated”, as there is a pause between the two sentences because the video was cut off at this point.
These statements caused outrage in Russia. Before initiating criminal proceedings, the Russian leadership had already verbally criticized Graham’s alleged statement.
