Albert Celades is no longer the coach of Valencia. The club has decided a second change of coach this season after seeing how the last few days the team’s results are getting worse. Valencia, in fact, have played two consecutive games, against Eibar and Villarreal, without being able to shoot a single shot between the three posts.
Celades, a former Barça and Madrid player with a past as an under-21 coach, arrived at Mestalla this season to take the place of Marcelino García Toral. With the Asturian coach, Valencia had won the Cup in 2019 and had qualified for the Champions League, but owner Peter Lim did not like his style of play, too defensive. In addition, the players Marcelino made play were not always the ones chosen by the sports management.

Marcelino, then, was fired, but Celades has failed to find a way to get good results in a team that needs to win to try to qualify for the Europa League. Voro, as he has done in the past, will be the coach until the end of the season. The former captain and delegate has already led the team on three occasions, always on a temporary basis. According to some reports, one of the possible future coach of Valencia would be Ernesto Valverde. Also today, sporting director César Sánchez has resigned, leaving the club.
