Yuki Tsunoda (Scuderia AlphaTauri) and Sergio Perez (Red Bull Racing) have fought in the world’s slowest Zamboni (ice resurfacer) ahead of the F1 Canadian Grand Prix.
Prior to the previous Canadian Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda and Sergio Perez switched from the fastest F1 car to Zamboni, the slowest car with a top speed of 15km / h. Produced to prepare the ice, Zamboni is active in all ice hockey games across Canada.
Yuki Tsunoda and Sergio Perez competed for a time trial against Canadian Olympic gold medalist and Red Bull athlete Sebastien Toutan. NHL legend PK Subban hosted the trio battle at the Olympic Park in Montreal.
The course features a hairpin turn, a slalom section, and a long straight, which is the mirror section of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
Sergio Perez won the final victory in Zamboni with the same coloring as the F1 car. He received a winning trophy made entirely of ice and was celebrated at the top step of the podium.
“It was a complete surprise and I never thought I would drive Zamboni until I arrived in the morning!” Commented Sergio Perez.
“At Red Bull, I always know it’s going to be a lot of fun, and this time around, I’ve seen Zamboni cleaning the ice, but what do you expect from it? I didn’t know how to drive. I could find the secret to make me run faster. Rabbit mode! It has a switch that I have to press to run faster. When I press the switch, the turtle becomes a rabbit. With lots of wheels and lots of throttle, Zamboni is very fast and can lift the wheels a little. “
