Kochi: Actor Vijay Babu will approach the court today seeking anticipatory bail in a sexual assault case filed by a young actress. Vijay Babu has appointed a lawyer to file the application in the vacation bench of the high court. Police had issued lookout notices at airports for Vijay Babu.

According to police, Vijay Babu had gone abroad on the pretext of being arrested. In addition to the torture complaint, a case has been registered for revealing the name of the victim. The actress lodged a complaint on April 22 at the Ernakulam South police station. On the 24th Vijay Babu went abroad. Vijay Babu then revealed the name of the victim and went live on Facebook. Disclosing the name of the victim is an offense punishable by up to two years in prison and a fine.

If the anticipatory bail application is filed, it may be considered today. The investigation team examined the scientific evidence collected in connection with the case. Vijay Babu has been charged with several offenses including rape, bodily injury and begging.

City Police Commissioner Ch. Nagaraju informed. Arrest is inevitable. The commissioner said the investigation had found evidence validating the woman’s statement.
