Raipur: Olympian boxer Vijender Singh is back on the winning track after a gap of 19 months.
Vijender knocked out Eliasu Sule of Ghana in the ‘Jungle Rumble’ fight at the Balbir Juneja Stadium in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
This is Vijender’s 14th win in professional boxing. Balbir came to the Juneja Stadium with 12 wins and one loss in the super middleweight category.
Russian player Artish Lopes knocked out Vijender in a match in Goa last year. Vijender knocked out his opponent in the second round of the bout, dubbed the ‘Jungle Rumble’. Sule’s eight-match knockout winning streak also ended.
The match ended in five minutes and seven seconds. Vijender reached the stadium accompanied by the late Sidhu Moose Wala’s song “So Hai”. The 36-year-old Vijender had won bronze in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Azad Asif Khan defeated Amay Nith in the featherweight category. Karthik Satish Kumar defeated Ashish Sharma in the lightweight category.
