Volvo develops world’s first in-car radar monitoring system – Engadget

Safety in Mind Point Cloud EX90

Volvo, which has earlier made safety a major selling point, has announced a new flagship in its upcoming electric SUV. EX90 The Admiral debuted their in-vehicle radar monitoring system. This solution will monitor the conditions in the compartment and luggage compartment, mainly to prevent children, pets, etc. from being locked in the car by mistake. As we all know, tragedies caused by similar incidents abound. And when Volvo’s new technology recognizes that there are still occupants in the car when the car is locked, it will alert and keep the interior climate system on to further reduce the risk of injury.

“No one chooses to be distracted or fatigued, but we all know it can happen. We are all human, and distraction is a part of life. With the help of cutting-edge technology, we can help you even when you’re not at your best. You provide support and help you avoid leaving children and pets in the car by mistake,” says Volvo injury prevention specialist Lotta Jakobsson.

In order to cover as much of the EX90’s interior as possible, Volvo will install multiple radar components in the roof console, reading lights, and luggage compartment that can detect “sub-millimeter” movements. More details will be announced when the new car is announced.
