The governor Wanda Vázquez Garced he appointed Luis Carlos Fernández Trinchet this afternoon as secretary of the Department of Housing.
His designation now goes to the Senate for consideration.
Fernández Trinchet served as executive director of the Administration for Housing Financing (AFV) and chaired the Economic Development Bank (BDE).
The appointment of the official arises after the governor fired Fernando Gil Enseñat as head of the agency.
“Today we announce state and federal housing grants for people affected by the earthquakes, and it is important to follow up on all these measures so that they are also complied with the funds of the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG). Fernández Trinchet has the knowledge and experience to work with these issues that are so vital for everyone in Puerto Rico, ”said the first executive.
“I humbly receive the confidence of the governor in the face of the challenges facing our Island. This designation I welcome as an opportunity to help Puerto Rico,” said Fernández Trinchet.
Fernández Trinchet has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico and a master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance, business environment and public policy from the University of Rochester, New York. He obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico and is a Financial Analyst Authorized by the CFA Institute.
