The expectation was that this change would occur in all regions, including Latin America and Brazil, by the end of 2023

In May of this year, the Warner Bros. Discovery made an announcement that shook the streaming world: the HBO Max platform would undergo a major transformation and change its name to “Max“. Time passed, in some countries the change has already happened, but in Brazil and throughout Latin America everything remains the same. Finally, the company announced that here, the change will only happen in 2024.

HBO Max will change its name to MAX in 2024

The change will take place in Latin America between January and March 2024

Initially, the expectation was that this change would occur in all regions, including Latin America and Brazil, by the end of 2023. During a talk held in Los Angeles, JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, announced that the name change to “Max” in Latin America is now scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.

Speaking about the reasons for this delay, he explained that this is to “make sure we do it correctly”:

“We have the rest of the world to implement, including Latin America, Europe and APAC – originally we were going to do this at the end of this year. To ensure we do it correctly, we are delaying the Latin America implementation until the first quarter of next year.”

In addition to the name change, the platform also promises a considerable expansion of content, including the incorporation of Discovery Plus titles and the addition of some 4K content.
