at His first pictorial appearance After his father, former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, stepped down from power in 2011, Gamal Mubarak declared his family’s innocence of having money smuggled abroad, and addressed his father in a video, saying, “We have won, father, may he rest in peace.”

He also added, directing the conversation to his father, “My dear father, fate did not allow you to witness the end of all legal measures taken against you since 2011, including the relevant measures adopted by the Council of the European Union.”

He stressed that “after a long and arduous battle over more than 10 years, successive rulings and decisions were issued by the highest judicial authorities in the European Union and abroad to categorically acquit the family.”

“We won in the courthouse”

He said that the late president was sure, “throughout this battle, even in its darkest times, that his family will eventually win.”

In addition, Gamal considered that that battle was “Mubarak’s last battle during a history full of battles and difficulties, and that he continued it on behalf of his father, after the latter faced it patiently and valiantly, after the end of his life in the service of the country, fighting and defending its interests,” according to him.
