Al-Marsad newspaper: Muhammad Al-Otaibi, an unemployed dentist, said that dentists in the Kingdom are overcrowded and unemployed, while the Ministry of Health is in dire need of them.
Al-Otaibi added, in an interview with the “Ya Hala” program on the “Rotana Khaleejia” channel, that the Ministry of Health claims that it does not need a Saudi dentist, explaining that according to the global index of the World Health Organization, there must be a dentist for every 2,000 people.
He stressed that the Ministry of Health did not reach this number at all, asking 3 questions to the Ministry of Health if it claimed that it had reached this number and was satisfied with the numbers of Saudi dentists.
As for the first question, he explained, why did the rate of decay among children in the Kingdom reach 93%, stressing that this percentage is sensitive and very dangerous, continuing: This is a statistic for children, what we have settled for middle ages, the elderly, people with chronic diseases or people with special needs.
As for the second question directed to the Ministry of Health, it is why the overcrowding in government appointments, and the patient waits for months and years in order to treat a nerve, and the condition develops into a dislocation and the patient’s condition is delayed.
He continued: As for the third question, if there is no need for a Saudi doctor, why was an initiative launched to request dentists to volunteer in government centers to meet the need and crowded appointments.
He pointed out that it is funny that one of the initiatives is entitled “Because you are important”, wondering if the dentist is important, why not be employed, and if it is not important, why is an initiative launched to meet this existing need.
He noted that there are dentists who killed their dreams, stress and depression, to waste 7 years of their life learning medicine.
