Gathered at Media in Seine – the media festival of tomorrow of “Echos” and of Franceinfo -, the bosses of the large audiovisual media groups have openly explained all the harm they think of the decree aimed at making Netflix and others contribute to French films and series, which the Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot, is in the process of finalizing. A legislative change which would allow the creation of France to obtain, at least initially, around 200 million euros in additional funding.

The initiative that would involve Netflix and its competitors could have been welcomed by traditional audiovisual groups because it aims to rebalance the rules of the game between “old” and “new” in the world of television. The historic PAF television channels already have funding obligations for French creation.
