POPULATE AIRLINES (Archyde.com) – Pope Francis said on Thursday that it was morally justifiable for countries to provide weapons to defend Ukraine against a Russian aggression.
He told reporters on the flight home from Kazakhstan, where he had spent three days visiting the religious leaders’ conference. Meanwhile, he called on Ukraine to agree to a final, albeit difficult, dialogue.
During the 45-minute press conference, when asked if it was ethically right for a country to provide weapons to Ukraine, he said: “This is a political decision, and if it is made under moral conditions, it is morally wrong. accepted,” he replied.
He also elaborated on the Catholic Church’s “jihadism,” which recognizes the use of weapons to defend itself against aggressors, saying, “Self-defense is both legal and an expression of patriotism.”
