WEF Ticker. Conference in Ticino as “kickoff” for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Economics Minister Guy Parmelin used the time at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos to talk to his counterparts about the economic consequences of the corona pandemic. In addition, the problems in the supply chains due to the Ukraine war were the focus.

Parmelin spoke to the Egyptian delegation about the looming food crisis, as the economy minister said at a media conference on Tuesday evening.

He also asked Indian Trade and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal why he had stopped wheat deliveries. He explained that this had to do with the drought. Only a small harvest would be expected. For this reason, they want to hold back wheat so that there is enough for their own population.

In addition, Parmelin has discussed the next steps in free trade or other agreements in various talks, for example with representatives from Vietnam, Singapore or Canada, as the Minister of Economics explained. He signed an investment protection agreement with the Indonesian business delegation.

The consequences of the corona pandemic on the economy were also an issue, said Parmelin. In addition, the WEF is always about getting to know new colleagues. This time, for example, it was the German Vice Chancellor and Economics Minister Robert Habeck.
