what a blunder with Sultan Suleiman was missed in the “Magnificent Century”

There were many historical flaws in the Turkish TV series “The Magnificent Century”. However, a special meticulous eye of experts was cast on the costumes in which the main characters appeared on the set.

A simple layman could hardly replace this important detail, or rather, an absurd blunder of screenwriters and costume designers. However, knowledgeable historians were indignant. So, for example, in several episodes Sultan Suleiman could be seen barefoot.

These moments were shown when the padishah spent time in his chambers with Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska Sultan or met the dawn on the terrace with the Persian favorite Firuze.

In the 16th century, and even in the Ottoman Empire, it was simply unthinkable to imagine that the Sultan could appear barefoot in front of a simple favorite slave.

This was not just a violation of all existing traditions, but was also considered a desecration of the actually holy body of the padishah. Never and under no circumstances could the Sultan be barefoot in the presence of anyone.

Another point – Sultan Suleiman walked around the harem without a headdress. This, too, was unacceptable. Those were the rules. By the way, they also extended to the inhabitants of the harem.

It is unlikely that the favorites of the padishah could boast of such seductive dresses with a neckline that the sultanas wore in the “Magnificent Age”. And they always covered their hair with a scarf. Still, the Ottoman Empire was a Muslim state. No liberties were allowed in the harem of Sultan Suleiman.

“Fucked out? How could you show the sultan barefoot?”, “Yes, it looks at least strange, the great sultan sits on the floor, and even barefoot”, “They apparently wanted to show him as a simple person. This is the mistake of the writers”, “Well, the viewer would not have guessed, to be honest,” the followers write.
