What about hot flashes and sweating?

Due to the decline in estrogen levels before and after menopause, women may have a series of symptoms based on dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, such as menstrual disorders, hot flashes and sweating, palpitations, irritability, chest pain, dizziness, tinnitus, insomnia, dreams, etc. .

Among them, “hot flashes” is the most characteristic manifestation. This symptom is caused by abnormal vasomotor function, which can cause repeated hot flashes of the skin on the head and face. The duration of each attack varies in length and frequency, and may be accompanied by symptoms such as profuse sweating or palpitation and chest tightness. In severe cases, it can cause discomfort such as mood and sleep disorders, which can affect social interaction and work, and reduce the quality of life.

Chinese medicine believes that perimenopausal hot flashes belong to the category of “pre- and post-menopausal syndromes” of Chinese medicine, and are scattered in the discussion of diseases such as “sweat syndrome” and “insomnia”. Women’s menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, and breasts are all injured by blood, and they tend to be in a state of “yin is often insufficient, but yang is often surplus.” Therefore, the cause of the disease is mainly caused by insufficient kidney yin and imbalance of yin and yang. However, there are also many patients who suffer from deficiency of yang qi, which leads to insufficiency of guarding qi. It can be seen that there are symptoms of kidney yang deficiency, such as aches and coldness of the waist and knees, and frequent urination.

Traditional Chinese medicine treatment is based on the principles of nourishing the kidney essence, calming the heart and calming the nerves, and mostly uses rehmannia, dogwood, floating wheat, keel, oyster and other drugs. Hormone therapy is the first choice for the treatment of perimenopausal hot flashes, but considering its various side effects such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, more and more perimenopausal women prefer non-hormonal therapy. Acupuncture has the advantages of being safe, effective and non-toxic and side effects, and has a wide range of clinical applications. Usually choose Shenshu, Sanyinjiao, Taixi, Neiguan, Shenmen and other acupoints. At the same time, ear acupoints can also be used to press, and acupuncture points such as kidney, endocrine, sympathetic, and heart can all improve the symptoms.

You can usually eat more black foods, such as black beans, black rice, black sesame seeds, mulberries, etc. You can also cook yam, wolfberry, pig bone soup, walnut chestnut and gorgon soup to nourish the spleen and kidney. Avoid staying at night and try to keep your mood relaxed.
