Which are the best cities in the world to study as a foreigner and how much money is needed have to aspire to live such an experience?

To guide those who have these doubts, each year the ranking QS Best Student Cities, prepared by the specialized consulting firm Quacquarelli Symonds in association with the academic publisher Elsevier. the new edition was recently submitted.

The work compared more than 160 cities of the five continents that have, in each case, more than 250 thousand inhabitants and at least two houses of higher education in the QS world university ranking.

How they prepare the ranking and which countries lead it

To determine what are the cities”more friendly” for international students, QS experts rated each city with a scorewhich they calculated taking into account:

  • The academic level of the universities.
  • The cost of life and the one of the races.
  • The Number of students who choose it.
  • The cultural diversity of those students.
  • levels of security and of pollution.
  • The employer interest for their graduates.
  • The opinion of those who study today there and from whom they would like to.

The product of this complex analysis, which combined statistical data with perception surveys a 98 thousand studentsthe ranking was headed by cities from the United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, Switzerland, Australia, Japan and France.

“This year’s Top 10 includes Sydney, Tokyo, Seoul and Zurich, but again the first place went to London“, highlighted the consultant.

The ranking highlights the English capital for hosting some of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world. Have 18 universities listed in the QS rankingand two of them in the global Top 10: Imperial College London ( position) and University College London ().

It is also one of the most diverse cities in the world, with a lively night life and culture. Its drawback, however, is that it is quite expensive: if you only measured your accessibility It would be in position No. 127.

Its most prestigious study centers are the Technical University of Munich (position 49° del ranking QS global) and the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (59°).

The city has seven universities in the global QS ranking, and two of them in the Top 100: University of Melbourne (ranked 33°) y Monash University (57°).
