When Pelosi came to Taiwan to protest against China, the male lawmakers didn’t say anything…

“China, I don’t know if it’s right to fuss because I’m the speaker of the House of Representatives.”

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made a nuanced remark that it could be because she is a woman in relation to China’s backlash against her visit to Taiwan.

According to Bloomberg News, Chairman Pelosi said he hoped that his trip to Taiwan would lead to more US lawmakers visiting in the future at an event with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen in Taiwan on the 3rd.

He pointed out that five senators, including Senate Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Bob Menendez, visited Taiwan in April, but there was not much fuss.

“They (China) presume that I was fussing because I’m the Speaker of the House of Representatives,” Pelosi said.

“Because they didn’t say anything when the men came,” he said, referring to China.

Pelosi’s remarks that China did not say anything during a visit to U.S. senators in April are not accurate, given that they conducted small-scale military exercises and issued critical statements.

Bloomberg interpreted Pelosi’s comments as implying that China’s real outrage was not because she was a top-ranking person, but because she was a woman.

Pelosi said it was a moment to be proud of women’s leadership, as she, as the first female Speaker of the House of Representatives, met with Taiwan’s first female president, Tsai Ing-wen.

He also emphasized that while China is preventing Taiwan from participating in certain meetings, it must be clearly understood that it does not prevent people from coming to Taiwan.
