Which altcoins surpassed Bitcoin in January 2020?

For cryptocurrency enthusiasts, the new year couldn’t have started better.

As you can see, Bitcoin SV, Dash, Bitcoin Gold, Ethereum Classic and Zcash are the best altcoins in January.

However, in the last column, with the exception of Bitcoin SV, most altcoins are still well below their all-time highs compared to Bitcoin.

Nevertheless, my goal today is to find out which altcoins you can use to expand your Bitcoin portfolio in the short term.

In January 2020, some altcoins doubled compared to bitcoin, which means that if you spread your investment over some of the best performing altcoins and then converted your profit back to bitcoin, you could potentially increase your bitcoin holdings significantly.

As always, the views in this article should not be considered financial advice. The volatility of crypto markets can easily lose money. Never invest more than you can afford and always do your own due diligence.

Let’s take a look at the three most important coins of 2020: Bitcoin SV (BSV), Dash (DASH) and Bitcoin Gold (BTG).

BSV / BTC

<p class = "Canvas-Atom Canvas-Text Mb (1.0em) Mb (0) – sm Mt (0.8em) – sm" type = "text" content = "Above we see the graphic for Bitcoin SV vs Bitcoin with kindness Approval of Trading View, So far, BSV has developed quite well compared to BTC in 2020. “Data-reactid =” 54 “> Above you can see the graph for Bitcoin SV versus Bitcoin with the kind permission of TradingView. BSV has developed quite well so far compared to BTC in 2020.

At the time of writing, BSV has pumped from 1,300,000 sats to almost 3,300,000 sats since the beginning of the year. This corresponds to an increase of 153% since the beginning of January 2020.

All Bitcoin SV EMAs are currently on the rise as well, and the 20-day EMA has exceeded both the 50-day and 200-day EMAs. If the trend continues, I expect the BSV to continue to reach new highs.

<p class = "canvas-atom canvas-text Mb (1.0em) Mb (0) – sm Mt (0.8em) – sm" type = "text" content = "In my last BSV Price analysisI underlined what the next target was around 3,400,000 sats. It looks like BSV is on the verge of reaching this goal to maintain positive momentum a little longer. “Data-reactid =” 57 “> In my last BSV price analysis I underlined that the next target was around 3,400,000 Sats. It seems as if BSV is about to exceed this target in order to improve the positive momentum somewhat maintain longer.

As long as the volume does not decrease too much, I see no reason why BSV could not continue to pump in the next few months.

DASH / BTC

Dash is a popular alternative among many cryptocurrency investors and traders.

Since the beginning of DarkCoin, Dash has been trying to improve scalability and data protection – two main problems for many crypto enthusiasts.

<p class = "Canvas Atom Canvas Text Mb (1.0em) Mb (0) – sm Mt (0.8em) – sm" type = "text" content = "Courtesy of Trading ViewWe can quickly see that Dash performed quite well in January 2020. “data-reactid =” 82 “> Thanks to TradingView, we can quickly see in the graphic above that Dash performed quite well in January 2020.

Essentially, the altcoin grew almost 135% over bitcoin within 30 days, from around 600,000 sats to 1,600,000 sats.

If the altcoin is able to maintain its current volume and stay above the 200-day EMA (blue line), its momentum could last longer.

BTG / BTC

Similar to Bitcoin SV, Bitcoin Gold is another hard fork of the Bitcoin core software.

Since the beginning of January 2020, BTG has grown by over 80% compared to BTC. At the peak two weeks ago, the old coin peaked at almost 130%. The price now appears to be struggling to maintain positive momentum.

If BTG is able to keep its price above the 200-day EMA, we could see new highs for Bitcoin Gold.

BTG currently trades at almost 136,000 sats. If the altcoin breaks up, we could soon see 200,000 sats as the volume profile shows little resistance until then.

Otherwise, BTG could drop to its 50-day EMA of around 105,000.
