The identity of Satoshi Nakamoto is a mystery to this day, but there have been several theories about the identity of the creator of bitcoin.

Nick Szabo
Nick Szabo is a computer scientist, lawyer and cryptographer with Hungarian roots, who is known for his research on digital contracts and cryptocurrencies. He is credited with developing the concept of smart contracts: these are automatically executed contracts that are only executed when the conditions necessary for the conclusion of the contract are met. The idea of smart contracts was raised by Szabo as early as 1994 in his article “Smart Contracts: Building Blocks for Digital Markets”.
Szabo is also known for his work on cryptography and is considered a pioneer of digital tools. He created the forerunner of bitcoin, “Bit Gold”, which he described in a blog post in the late 1990s. The famous cryptographer is considered by many to be the creator of bitcoin, yet he denies this to this day.
Hal Finney
Hal Finney was an American programmer and cryptographer who supported the popular cryptocurrency as early as when bitcoin appeared. Finney was the Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) is also one of the developers of software that is not only widely used to encrypt e-mails, but has now become the most popular encryption program.
The American programmer has also been a vocal proponent of bitcoin and has written extensively about the potential of the technology on various forums and social networking sites.
Like Szabo, Finney has denied claims that he created bitcoin, but admitted that he accepted the first bitcoin transaction that Nakamoto made. Hal Finney died in 2014 from a disease called ALS, from which Stephen Hawking also suffered. Finney was widely known and respected within the bitcoin community.
Dorian Nakamoto
Dorian Nakamoto is a retired Japanese-American engineer and physicist who was first mentioned by Newsweek journalist Leah McGrath Goodman in a In his 2014 articleas possible Satoshi Nakamoto.
The Japanese engineer denied that he created bitcoin and stated that he had never even heard of BTC before the article was published. He also said that he is not fluent in English and felt that Goodman had omitted certain statements from the interview when writing the article.

Dai’s most significant project is a B-money, an anonymous distributed electronic money system invented in 1998. The concept of B-money served as inspiration for the creation of bitcoin, and many of the ideas presented in Dai’s B-money paper were later incorporated into the bitcoin white paper. Dai has denied being Nakamoto, but like Adam Back, he remains part of the cypherpunk community.

Vili Lehdonvirta is a Finnish economist, mainly engaged in the research of digital culture and economy. He is a leading researcher at the University of Oxford, where he studies platform economies and the effects of digital tools. Lehdonvirta has published numerous studies and articles on cryptocurrencies and online marketplaces, and is a regular speaker at various conferences and events.
Because of his research, many people see Lehdonvirta as Satoshi Nakamoto, but there are no signs that the Finnish researcher had anything to do with the creation of bitcoin, and he himself denied that he was Nakamoto.
