AOn paper he is considered the inventor of Bitcoin, but for large parts of the technology scene he is a silent hero; he is called a programming genius, a nerd, freak and pioneer. He is a billionaire according to the blockchain protocol. After the recent price jumps of Bitcoin, he is one of the richest people in the world.
Although his work is widely talked about, nobody seems to know who or what is behind the name: a person or a group, an organization or a secret service? Is it a pseudonym, an artist name or an alias? Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?
Programmers, linguists and digital trackers have not yet been able to solve the puzzle. Former comrades-in-arms declared that they did not know who exactly they were dealing with. Nobody could shed light on the dark corner of cyberspace. For ten years, Nakamoto has disappeared from the scene. There are no photos of him, just a silhouette; there are no videos, just an essay, a few emails and blog posts.
But they have it all: They describe how the first crypto money and the first digital trade repository blockchain were launched twelve years ago with the introduction of bitcoin. Nakamoto acted like a godfather. He built on old concepts from the cryptologist David Chaum, was previously active in the cypherpunk group and cooperated with several programmers.
$ 40 billion in the account
While today business and science are trying to figure out the digital future of the monetary system, the Bitcoin price is going through the roof in the markets. The recent high of $ 40,000 has catapulted Nakamoto into the ranks of the super-rich. Because after one Analysis by cryptologist Sergio Lerner 1.1 million Bitcoins are still attributed to his accounts – with a current equivalent of around 40 billion dollars.
According to Lerner, these Bitcoins were already exhausted in the first twelve months after the market launch. The complicated technical processes involved had started just five minutes after the first block of transactions was published in January 2009. Lerner noted in the early data logs that 1.8 million bitcoins were created by the same computer for over a year, but only a third of them were put into circulation. The rest has been untouched since then. Is it a hidden reserve, a lost item, or a test?
While Bitcoin’s dollar value is skyrocketing, verbal speculation also shoots up: Who or what is Satoshi Nakamoto? In the chat forum of the P2P Foundation he once left a few clues. Here he briefly introduced himself in February 2009: Japanese, male, 36 years old. He writes perfect English, is proficient in the programming language C ++ and knows a lot about money. His work speaks for the rest.
