Why India’s TikTok ban is a big blow to Bytedance

The curtain dropped suddenly, a simple press release. The TikTok platform suddenly became illegal in India on Monday after learning that it was accused by the government of Narendra Modi of “stealing and smuggling” data from Indian Internet users outside the country. An unprecedented decision which concerns a total of 59 Chinese applications, including Weibo, WeChat or … Helo, a social network belonging, like TikTok, to Bytedance.
