The police authority in the Australian capital Canberra had previously announced investigations against Kyrgios.
Accordingly, “a 27-year-old after an incident in December 2021” should appear before the metropolitan magistrate’s court.
“It is related to a private relationship,” said Kyrgios’ lawyer Jason Moffett, adding, “The nature of the allegations is very serious and Mr. Kyrgios takes the allegations very seriously.”

Shortly after Moffett’s statement, his colleague Pierre Johannessen, who is also responsible for safeguarding Kyrgios’ interests, clarified the legal status of his client.
“At this stage, the allegations are not considered facts by the court and Mr Kyrgios is not considered a criminal offense pending his first appearance,” the lawyer said.
Wimbledon has no comment on Kyrgios
Despite the developments in his home country, Kyrgios does not have to fear any consequences at Wimbledon. According to a spokesman, the organizers “have been made aware of a court case involving Nick Kyrgios, but as it is an ongoing case we are not in a position to comment”.
Accordingly, a cancellation of his match against Garín is not an issue: “We are in contact with Nick’s team and his game remains on the schedule.”
Kyrgios let his temperament run wild last Saturday in the game against the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, thereby confirming his reputation as a “bad boy” in the tennis scene. In all, he has already amassed a $14,000 fine at Wimbledon.
