Winner of the sim racing competition “The Real Race 2021”

Lamborghini Esports today announced the winners of the “The Real Race” competition, with the final taking place on the legendary Misano Adriatico circuit.

The racing series “The Real Race” took place from June to November and brought together 3,150 racing drivers from all over the world who let off steam in the racing game Assetto Corsa Competizione.

The qualifications took place as part of three regional championships, in which 750 drivers from the Asia-Pacific region, 800 drivers from North America and Latin America and 1,600 drivers from Europe, the Middle East and Africa participate. In ten races they fought for the chance to visit Lamborghini’s home in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy and become Lamborghini’s first official sim driver. The participants in “The Real Race” included 141 German SimRacers, 129 drivers from Great Britain, 156 French, 169 Italians, 22 Austrians, 16 Swiss, 160 Americans, 31 Japanese, 28 Russians, 13 Chinese, 95 Australians and 91 Brazilians. In addition, 64 SimRacers from Africa and 19 drivers from the Middle East took part.

Once again, Lamborghini recorded enormous interest in “The Real Race” and established it as the highlight of the e-sports racing calendar. SimRacers from all over the world were able to compete at the virtual wheel of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO – the car that has already won the Daytona 24 Hours three times. The iconic Huracán by Lamborghini was given an exclusive paint job for the competition in the game, which highlighted the partners of the event, Kaspersky, Secret Lab and Assetto Corsa Competizione, and could be adapted by the participants in 12 different configurations.

After a tough battle in all three final races, the following riders were crowned the new champions: Jordan Sherratt (South Africa) for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Fidel Moreira (Brazil) for North and South America and Andrew O’Hara (Australia) for the Asia-Pacific region. Sherratt, third overall in the 2020 championship, stated: “The season was very exciting from the start and to be at the top with three laps to go was a huge success for me! This competition took me to a new level in terms of consistency and I gave 110% on every lap so I’m very happy with my performance. Finally, I would like to thank Lamborghini, the organizers and all sponsors who made this prestigious competition possible. “

The three champions will take part in a showdown at Lamborghini headquarters that includes an R&D simulation and a test behind the wheel of a real Lamborghini racing car on an Italian circuit. In the end, the best will be chosen as the official Lambo SimRacer 2022.
