Woman is pushed onto the subway rails; impacted by train

A woman was pushed onto the train rails in a subway station in Manhattan where she was hit by an arriving train, according to the police report.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning and the victim was pushed by a subject onto the rails that use lines 4, 5 and 6 at the Union Square station.

The man was detained after witnesses pointed him out as the culprit and according to the police he may have mental problems.

The woman was taken to hospital and the severity of her injuries is unknown at this time, although she is expected to survive.
