The retro mini-putt Honda e has been named the best electric car in the world this year, by a separate jury consisting of female motoring journalists.
This is the eleventh year the ladies of WWCOTY have taken matters into their own hands.
WWCOTY stands for Women’s World Car of the Year – ie the Women’s (own) World’s Best Car award.
In addition to the best electric car, the journalists have named winners in as many as eight other categories, based on size and area of use. You can see the complete list of winners further down in the article.
After the launch last year, to date no more than 193 copies of Honda have been sold in Norway, but we had a great time when we tested it. Because “if you have the desire and opportunity to stand out on the car front, Honda’s electric car can be the car for you,” Dinside wrote in 2020.
In the video at the top of the case, you can see why we cost ourselves this way. And remember, you can choose a different color than yellow-green …
A few years ago, Dinside revealed that The retro small car Mini Cooper is the “only women’s car” in Norway, with the opinion that it was in fact the only car with a predominance of female customers. Given Honda’s size and strong retro feel, it’s not so surprising that the electric small car from Japan is also popular among ladies.
But … As mentioned, it’s not just Honda e that has won this year’s WWCOTY.
The Peugeot 208 – also available as an electric car – ran away with the victory in the best urban car, while the new Skoda Octavia not surprisingly won the class for family cars.
Among the three SUV classes – urban, medium and large – it was the Peugeot 2008 (built on the same load as the 208, and also has an electric car alternative), Land Rover Defender and Kia Sorento that pulled the longest straws.
In addition to these, the Japanese Lexus LC500 Cabrio (luxury car), Italian Ferrari F8 Spider (performance / sports car) and American Ford F-150 (pickup) won their classes.

Overall winner is coming
However, the selection of “Women’s Car of the Year” is not completely over, with these nine winners. March 8, on Women’s Day itself, the overall winner will be revealed.
In recent years, Mazda 3, Volvo XC40, Jaguar I-Pace and Hyundai Ioniq, among others, have run away with the victory. Now we’ll see if it will be the mini putt Honda e that wins or if it might be more sensible Peugeot 2008 or Skoda Octavia? On International Women’s Day, we get the answer …
