On the day of group A, the lionesses beat Equidad 3-1 and finished the group stage with a perfect score; For their part, the ambassadors fell 2-1 with Fortaleza and finished in second place in group A.
Although Millonarios and Santa Fe qualified for the next round of the women’s league in Colombia, the reality is that the lionesses are one step above the ambassadors and they showed it in the group stage. The cardinals received Equidad on the last day; while the blue ones visited Fortaleza.
The emotions came first from Chía, but they were greater in El Campín. Millonarios opened the scoring from minute 4 through Manuela Acosta, who scored his first goal with the Millonarios shirt.
The ambassadors played with a mixed payroll. And although they went up on the scoreboard and tried to control the result, from 41 ′, when Angie Taborda tied, the dominance of the game was lost, because before the end of the first half, Karol Murcia scored the second goal and gave him back to a result that the Millionaires players could not reverse. Despite the fact that some of the usual starters entered the second half, the blues did not find the way to tie the game. In the end, they were left with 13 points in the second box of group A.
On the other hand, the lionesses handled the development of the match better against Equidad. Diana Celis opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and although Equidad did not fall asleep and tied a minute later, the confidence and solidity of the cardinal team increased on the field with greater chances of goal and possession for Santa Fe.
The goals of the comeback for Santa Fe were long in coming. A goal in 68 ‘by Ysaura Viso and another by Nelly Córdoba at 79’ sealed the victory of the cardinals in El Campín and reaffirmed the team’s power by finishing the group stage with a perfect score (24 points).
To complement the day, Júnior and Cali, who played the most attractive match, drew 1-1 and qualified for the next phase of the tournament. For its part, America, current champion, who had already secured their classification and first place, won a home victory by defeating Pasto 3-1.
Medellín, who was playing against Real Santander, drew goalless and qualified for first place in the group. The Santander team was second with seven units. Nacional, who visited Bucaramanga with the obligation to win, thrashed 5-0 and was classified as one of the best third in the championship.
Thus, the teams classified to the round of 16 of the women’s league are:
Group A: Santa Fe and Millonarios.
Group B: América, Deportivo Cali and Júnior.
Group C: Medellín, Real Santander and Atlético Nacional.
