World AIDS Vaccine Day: History
World AIDS Vaccine Day begins on May 18, 1997, with a speech by former United States President Bill Clinton at Morgan State University in Maryland. “Only a truly effective and effective HIV vaccine can limit and gradually eliminate the threat of AIDS,” he said in his speech. On May 18 of the following year, people celebrated the first anniversary of Clinton’s speech, which became World AIDS Vaccine Day or HIV Vaccine Awareness Day. Since then, May 18 has been celebrated around the world as AIDS Vaccine Day.
World AIDS Vaccine Day: Significance
HIV will gradually weaken the human immune system. As the immune system weakens, many life-threatening germs begin to enter the body. It is therefore imperative to find an HIV vaccine that can help prevent this condition, be it prevention or treatment.
Research on the HIV vaccine began in 1987 at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Maryland, USA.
Over the years, research into the Kovid-19 vaccine has helped speed up the process. William Schiff, an immunologist at the Scripps Research Institute, is currently working on developing an HIV vaccine that uses the same MRNA technology used in Kovid vaccines. This was mentioned in an article on the website of the non-profit National Public Radio (NPR).
“I know that developing this vaccine experimentally is like science fiction, but a vaccine may become a reality in the next 5, 6 years. It is hoped that this will provide some protection against HIV, ”said Dr. Derceri Archery, a senior scientist at the Center for AIDS Program Research (Caprice) in South Africa.
