On the occasion of World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Day, we take stock of this pulmonary disease characterized by a persistent blockage of inspired gases in the lungs.
This chronic respiratory disease could become the third cause of death in the world by 2030 according to the World Health Organization. A real public health issue, COPD is mainly caused by the inhalation of microparticles and irritants linked to cigarette smoke and air pollution.
