Rome is preparing for a massive influx of dignitaries and mourners this Saturday, April 26, for the funeral of Pope Francis, who died Monday at the age of 88 after suffering a stroke. The ceremony, to be held in St. Peter’s Square at 10:00 a.m. (8:00 GMT), will be presided over by Giovanni Battista Re, dean of the College of Cardinals.

The funeral is expected to draw a remarkable delegation of heads of state, political figures, and royalty from around the globe, reflecting the pontiff’s widespread influence and impact during his tenure.
