On Instagram, Xavier Dolan said he was eager to meet the new version of academics.
“I identify with this new generation of artists,” he then commented in a press release.
“They will soon be entering the Academy and, more generally, the media arena. I became a public figure at the age of 20, and I confess that I would have liked to know more about the universe I entered, about who I was as a human, as an artist. I think that, if I can bring something to the participants, share something with them, it is this way of building one’s identity, of learning to navigate the notions of reputation, image, speech … the good ones like bad moves teach us a lot, ”he added.

Xavier Dolan, who has eight feature films to his name that have won awards around the world, including at the Cannes Film Festival, announced earlier this week that he would direct his first TV series, The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up, for Club Illico.
The young academicians, who will stay in a Waterloo mansion, will also be supported by Lara Fabian (director of the Academy), Gregory Charles (voice and music), Ariane Moffatt (musical creation), Mika (artistic director), as well as by Anne Dorval, Pepe Munoz and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
Like Xavier Dolan, the painter, author and filmmaker Marc Séguin will wear the hat of professor of artistic identity, but his mandate will be to make emerging artists reflect on their role in society.
The shootings of Star Academy have already started, among others for “The Selection Camp”, which brings together the 60 best candidates of the audition tour. This is an intensive course which is their final audition and will determine who is selected to be part of the first variety of Star Academy.
The selection camp will take place over two episodes which will be broadcast on January 17 and 24 at 7 p.m. on TVA. The dissemination of Star Academy will officially begin on February 14th.
