According to the latest news, Qualcomm is developing a new flagship Snapdragon chipset which will be produced with TSMC using a 4nm manufacturing process. It will be the successor of the Snapdragon 888 labeled the 895 SoC. Qualcomm also gave the Xiaomi Mi 12 exclusive rights to be the first to get it.
Giz China said the main reason that pushed Qualcomm to switch to TSMC was information that TSMC plans to start mass production of 4nm products in 2022. Samsung itself is currently producing Snapdragon 888 SoC using 5nm process technology.
Sources, say, the 4nm Snapdragon SoC mentioned above, will not be launched until 2022. While the successor to Snapdragon 888, temporarily named Snapdragon 895, is expected to be released again by Samsung using the upgraded 5nm technology. This new technology will improve the performance and energy efficiency of the SoC.
The Snapdragon 895 is believed to receive a Qualcomm X65 5G modem, and the top speed on the 5G network will be increased to 10Gbps. The Snapdragon X65 modem is also equipped with Qualcomm 5G PowerSave 2.0 power saving technology. This will significantly reduce power consumption platform.
