China’s Xiaomi is expected to launch the second-generation ‘Mi Box 4K’ model.

According to foreign media on the 25th (local time), a ‘Xiaomi Box 4K’ (2nd generation) with model number MDZ-28-AA was found on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website.

In 2016, Xiaomi collaborated with Google to launch a 4K-enabled Android TV set-top box called ‘Mi Box’, and two years later released ‘Mi Box S’. In July 2020, it released ‘Mi TV Stick’, and in December of the following year, ‘Mi TV Stick 4K’ with 4K UHD support was released.

The second-generation ‘Xiaomi Box 4K’ model captured on the FCC website has the same design as the first-generation model. It can render 4K HDR content and comes with Bluetooth (BR+EDR, LE) and WiFi 5G. In addition, a remote control with voice cancel function, HDMI extension cable, and 5W power adapter (5V-1A) are also provided.

Availability and pricing information for the second-generation ‘Xiaomi Box 4K’ model is not yet known. The first-generation model was released for around $46.
