Yoko’s Quest in Ahrensbök

Dear Judo friends,

I spent my summer in Ahrensbök this year. Ahrensbök is not foreign to me at all, in fact I have made really good judo friends here over the last few years. On September 1st I was able to support the committed judoka from Ahrensbök at the traditional annual Kiwanis Children’s Day. The Ahrensbök Judo Club had a club information stand there with a coveted wheel of fortune.

The kids had a lot of fun and there were only prizes and no losses. Of course, a demonstration was also a must. The last demonstration was seven years ago. The demonstration, accompanied by music, took place at midday. The Ahrensbök judoka impressed the amazed audience with a great demonstration. They rolled, fell over obstacles and even performed a backward fall exercise while sitting over the back of a chair. Of course, there were also judo throws. All the judoka showed off their skills in their respective training groups. The highlight was the judo teens with judo throws as self-defense and, at the end, several quick throws in a row. It was a really successful event.

I had already taken part in the Ahrensböker Gill’s annual local festival parade on July 7th. This was the third time that I had been invited to the annual local festival parade by the Ahrensböker Judo Club. I was happy to accept this invitation and took part together with the Ahrensböker Judoka. The Ahrensböker Judo Club has once again put together a lot for this local festival parade. The judoka and I rode along on a large 40-ton truck and handed out flyers, snacks and silicone bracelets for this year’s club motto “40 years of judo in Ahrensbök/1984 to 2024”.
