Emilia Fester (24, Greens) is the youngest member of the German Bundestag. She says about herself that she wanted to vote “when I was eight” – now she has spoken out in favor of voting rights for small children too!

► In a joint interview with Bundestag senior president Wolfgang Schäuble (79, CDU) in “ FocusIn response to a question from Schäuble, Fester spoke out in favor of voting rights for all.

Means: The youngest Greens in Parliament wants voting rights for everyone who wants to vote – regardless of age.

► Many in their party see things differently. The Greens’ election program agreed on a voting age of 14, and in the traffic light coalition agreement it was 16.

The youngest MP polarized already in the past, was sometimes covered with malice and insults. In her first speech in parliament, Fester expressed herself highly emotionally about the restrictions in force during the Corona period. Among other things, she said that she had not been abroad since the outbreak of the pandemic. Later it turned out: That was obviously not the truth. Instagram photos of the young politician show that she vacationed in Denmark in the summer of 2020.

Among other things, she was violently attacked on the net. Reiner Wendt (65, CDU), head of the German police union, called Fester “I brat”, “snotty spoon”, “little child” and “ridiculous I representative” in this context.

The Greens then demanded an apology from DPolG boss Wendt. Has it happened? Not clear.
