Yuki Tsunoda of Alpha Tauri F1’s second year task is “to be able to defeat Pierre Guthrie”[F1-Gate .com]

AlphaTauri F1 Yuki Tsunoda claims he knows “what needs to be improved” to defeat teammate Pierre Guthrie in 2022.

Yuki Tsunoda scored points in the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix debut, but then lost confidence due to a series of mistakes and crashes. However, it recovered after the summer vacation and surpassed teammate Pierre Guthrie for the first time in the qualifying and final in the final round F1 Abu Dhabi GP.

Yuki Tsunoda scored 32 points and finished in 14th place in the ranking. Pierre Guthrie has more than tripled to 110 points and finished in 9th place in the ranking.

In the end, Yuki Tsunoda’s lack of points affected the battle for 5th place in the Constructors’ Championship with Alpine F1, and AlphaTauri F1 finished the season in 6th place by 13 points.

“2022 will be a really important year for me,” Yuki Tsunoda told GP Fans.

“I don’t know what the pace of the team’s car will be, but I have to perform. Of course, I have to beat my teammates and have a more stable race.”

“But now I know the details of what I need to improve. If I improve this, I think I can beat him, beat my teammates and have a consistent race.”

“That’s all, and all the material I’ve seen to move forward. In that sense, I think it was a really good year of preparation.”

This year, F1 will introduce a whole new machine concept aimed at improving the race by reducing the downforce lost due to the eddy of the preceding machine.

“If the car is good, there is a hope that we will consistently earn points and get good results,” added Yuki Tsunoda.

“Even if the machine is bad or slow, you can still develop it, and you know how to develop it faster for yourself.”
