Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic died suddenly early this morning at the age of 66 from a heart attack, BNT reported.
Croatian media report that late-night Bandic felt unwell and was taken by ambulance to the Holy Spirit Hospital, where he died, despite attempts by doctors to resuscitate him.
Bandic has had serious health problems for a long time. In 2003, he suffered a severe stroke. He had a stent implanted three years ago, and was hospitalized last June after feeling unwell.
He also suffered from a pulmonary embolism and underwent several surgeries, including on his vocal cords.
