Zion Williamson drops a hop step, then flies to the circle!

-

Zion Williamson knows how to martyrise opposing rackets with his physical power, but can also show finesse. The proof with a silky hop step against the Thunder last night, before his natural gallop.

If some still doubted Zion Williamson and his ability to impose his game in the NBA, they had to reconsider their judgment since the last two games. Faced with the Blazers two days ago, the rookie of the Pelicans had signed his career high with 31 points, to which he had to add 9 rebounds and 5 assists, in the capital victory of his own (138-117).

Last night, he did it again, already setting a new personal scoring record with 32 points and a nice 10/13 throwing. Yet another performance of choice which allowed him to join none other than Michael Jordan in the history of the league.

You get it, so Zion made the transition from NCAA to the NBA well. His extraordinary physique, which already terrified university rackets, still produces as much damage against the interiors yet much more powerful of the big league.

A real human highlight with dunks and alley-oops who have been superpowered since the start of the season, the former Duke is not content with his physical domination to score his points. In his first game under the colors of Pels, he had caught fire on three points against the Spurs. Last night, he showed his critics that he also knew how to show finesse in his footwork and great game intelligence.

On a rebound taken by Josh Hart, the young interior rushed into a counterattack as it used to do. Once the ball was in his hands, he found himself facing back Luguentz Dort against whom he could very well have used his power advantage. However, he preferred to use a nice hop step (variant of a eurostep) to drop his defender.

The way was clear to find his good old habits and take flight to the circle. Zion has also always been at the reception of alley-oops sent by his teammates, but this time failed to bring his team to a new success (defeat 118-123) against a direct opponent in the fight for the playoffs.

If Zion Williamson starts to use such fine moves more regularly with as much success, the defense on him will quickly turn into ordeal.
