This Sunday, May 28, 2023 in Zone Interdite on M6, a long report was devoted to Parc Astérix, on the occasion of the creation of its new attraction Toutatis. But if the technical problems and the financial stakes were not passed over in silence, many Internet users had the impression of attending a promotional report.

Less than a month away from summer, Zone prohibited was dedicated this Sunday, May 28, 2023 to the new attraction at Parc Astérix. With its 2.5 million annual visitors, the park located in the Oise intends to get closer to the giant Disney thanks to Toutatisthe highest and fastest (110km/h) Russian mountains of France. With its 7 accelerations, its 3 spins and its vertiginous falls of 50 meters, l’attraction is the largest investment in the history of Parc Astérix. No less than 22 million euros were paid for its manufacture.

The Forbidden Zone team followed the construction of the most powerful roller coaster in France for a year, between technical challenges, new recruitments and welcoming visitors. Thus, the cameras went into contact with Éric, site manager for whom the Toutatis attraction is undoubtedly the biggest challenge. From Thomas, the head of maintenance, whose parents fell in love in 1989, when they were working at the amusement park themselves. At the end of the report, he tested Toutatis several times in a row, and admitted, despite his great experience, to having “almost watered [s]neighbors in the third round”.

Florine, whose mission is to limit visitors’ waiting time for attractions, was another headliner in the report. To speed up the pace, the 28-year-old employee does not hesitate to hurry (even stress) her teams, which has earned her some criticism on Twitter. Or Pierre, a stuntman who applied for a role in the famous park show “Main basse sur la Joconde”. This former footballer, having already worked with Omar Sy, had 12 weeks to learn motorcycle stunts.

On the visitor side, the M6 cameras followed the Chatelain family, made up of parents Sophie and Arnaud, grandparents, children Elise and Nathan as well as their cousin Melina. Very quickly, Grandma Marie found herself on the verge of discomfort after the first roller coaster of the day. And it is finally the whole family, except Mélina, who withdrew in front of Toutatis. At 13, the teenager therefore climbed on board alone and performed the 32 tricks of the attraction at a frantic pace.

At the end of the report, the presenter Ophélie Meunier in turn launched, accompanied by the entire film crew. “What is quite surprising about this attraction is that we have no harness,” she commented, settling in the front. Then a small camera filmed his reactions during the duration of the attraction, between cries and hair stirred by the wind. “I’ve never experienced this!”, She dropped about the sensations, then ensuring that she had heard her whole team scream. On Twitter, many criticized Zone Interdite for once again turning into a giant advertisement for Parc Astérix.

But on this same social network, some found the report on the contrary very transparent and not always flattering. Numerous breakdowns of attractions have indeed been mentioned, including that of Tonnerre 2 Zeus, which remained stuck for a good while at 29 meters high. The long wait required (one hour on average) to access each attraction has not been overlooked either…
