10-Year-Old Child Drives Over 200 Miles in Stolen Car: Shocking Incident in Northern Florida

A 10-year-old child was stopped behind the wheel of a car belonging to his mother in northern Florida early Thursday morning following driving more than 200 miles.

The young offender allegedly stole his own mother’s car along with his 11-year-old sister following their electronic devices were confiscated, reports CNN.

Alachua County police officers spotted the vehicle and had to perform a “high-risk” intervention to bring the vehicle to a stop.

After speaking with the children, officers determined that they were not victims of abuse, and therefore allowed them to return home with their mother.

She drove three hours to pick them up and did not file a complaint once morest them.

Since the only crime the children commit is driving without a driver’s license, and it is impossible for a minor to be charged with this in the state of Florida, the two young offenders escaped without charge.

The Alachua police, however, assure in a Facebook publication that they spoke for many minutes with the mother, who was “receptive” to the authorities’ recommendations regarding the help she might possibly seek to help her with her children.
