Operation Sangaris was to help restore security in the country torn apart by interfaith clashes. On March 24, 2013, the men of the Séléka rebellion overthrew General François Bozizé and took the capital Bangui. They are leading to a humanitarian crisis that affects half of the Central African population. Residents are fleeing the rebels, particularly around Bossangoa, in the northwest of the country, which will be the scene of a battle between Seleka and the anti-balakas (self-defense militias).
