BEIJING, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) — Sales of high-end passenger cars in China posted steady expansion in 2022 driven by improved consumption inside the country, according to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

About 3.89 million high-end cars were sold in China last year, up 11.1 percent year-on-year, and 1.6 percentage points faster than all passenger cars, the association said.

In 2022, high-end passenger car sales accounted for 16.5 percent of the country’s total passenger car sales, up 0.7 percentage points from 2021.

The association said sales of gasoline-powered cars with a price of more than 500,000 yuan (regarding 73,853 U.S. dollars) rose 41.2 percent year on year in 2022, while sales of new energy vehicles with a price of 350,000-400,000 yuan jumped 167 percent. percent. /ts/
