Beijing returned to star in the statistics of new infections by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in China and diagnosed 7 positives of the 12 that were registered this Sunday in the Asian country, the National Health Commission reported today. With these data there are 418 active cases of coronavirus in China.
All the infections detected in Beijing – where an outbreak was found earlier this month that has led to the medical analysis of a large part of the capital’s population – have been caused by local transmission.
The remaining 5 cases were diagnosed to travelers from abroad (known as “imported” cases) and were located in Sichuan province (center, 3), Liaoning province (northeast, 1) and Shanghai (east, 1).
These 12 total cases represent a reduction in the number of cases compared to those detected on Saturday (17) and Friday (21).
In addition, the health authorities detailed that, until last local midnight (16.00 GMT Sunday), 9 patients have been discharged, bringing the total number of active infected in China to 418, 8 of which are serious.
The source did not announce new deaths from Covid-19, so the figure remained at 4,634., among the 83,512 infected diagnosed officially in China since the start of the pandemic, and of whom 78,460 successfully overcame the disease and were discharged.
To date, 762,119 close contacts with the infected have been medically followed up, of whom 7,012 are still under observation, and 6 of them would be suspected cases of being infected with the virus.
As for the asymptomatic infected, China registered 6 new cases in this latest report, which leaves the total number of people in those circumstances under observation at 102.
