Imphal – 13 people were killed in a firing incident in Manipur’s Tengnopal. The firing was reported in an area with a large population of Kuki people. The bodies of 13 people were found in Leitu village during a joint search by the Assam Rifles and the Army. It is reported that the incident took place on Monday followingnoon.

Officials said no weapons were found near the bodies. Officials also said that it is suspected that those killed are not from the village. Army sources also indicated that they came here and clashed with another group. The dead have not been identified. This area was not involved in the earlier conflicts in the state.

The Manipur government has restored internet from Sunday except in a few places in the state. In the wake of the riots, internet services were suspended from May 3. The new incident comes amid reports that the law and order situation is currently returning to normal.
