Alstom continues to develop the rail industry in the Kingdom.

A new investment of 160 million dirhams will be mobilized for the creation of a second railway factory intended for the manufacture of driving cabs for regional trains and metros. This new investment will create 200 direct jobs by 2025. “We are very proud of the creation of this new industrial site. This perfectly illustrates our strategy of designing and developing a localized ecosystem in Morocco,” said Mehdi Sahel, Managing Director of Alstom Morocco.

For Alstom, this second factory for the manufacture of driving cabs is now directly in line with the group’s desire to develop the rail ecosystem in the Kingdom and to strengthen local rail expertise. It should be noted that Alstom Morocco announced in 2020 the expansion of its factory in Fez, then, in 2021, the creation of a second production line on the same site.

The Fez plant produces electrical wiring and Mitrac transformers and employs 850 people, 56% of whom are women. The investments injected by Alstom Morocco amount since 2019 to 32 million dirhams. They relate to the development of the operator’s industrial activity, which has enabled the delivery of 25 international projects. In total, 1,200 jobs in the rail sector will be created by 2025.
