Sixteenth Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops October 4-29, 2023

This Sunday (29/10/23) concludes the first phase of the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.
From 2021 onwards, following preparations at the diocesan level, local bishops’ level and the continental level, the synod meeting started at the global church on October 4th at the Vatican.
Adopting the contemplative theme “For the Synodical Church: Communion, Partnership and Mission”, the conference will conclude on Sunday morning in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican with a solemn mass of 400 people, including synod fathers, cardinals, bishops and priests, presided over by Pope Francis.
The second and final phase of this synod will be in October 2024.
Cardinal Mario Gresch, General Curator of the Synod of Bishops, pointed out the need to pray tirelessly for peace at the beginning of the Synod meeting held on Friday.
