17.3 percent growth in China’s investments in the electronic information manufacturing sector during January and February

BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) — Data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed that China’s fixed-asset investment in the electronic information manufacturing sector grew 17.3 percent year-on-year in the first two months of 2023.

The ministry noted that this growth rate is 7.3 percentage points higher than in all industries.

China’s electronic information manufacturing sector contracted slightly during the period, with the added value of major enterprises in the sector down 2.6 percent year on year.

Companies in this sector saw their combined operating income drop 6.5 percent to 1.99 trillion yuan (regarding 289.59 billion U.S. dollars) in the January-February period, while their total profits amounted to 17.06 billion yuan, down 77.1 percent year-on-year, according to the data.
