176 percent rise in power battery production in China during the first seven months of this year

BEIJING, Aug. 14, 2022 (Xinhua) — In the first seven months of this year, the country’s power battery production increased by 175.6 percent year on year to 253.7GWh, industrial data released by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance showed.

The data added that the period between January and last July witnessed the production of lithium iron phosphate batteries with a capacity of 153.8 gigawatt-hours, an increase of 227.1 percent year on year.

The data showed that the production of triple lithium batteries amounted to 99.5 gigawatt-hours, an increase of 121.9 percent year on year.

During the cited period, a total of 134.3 GWh of batteries for Chinese electric vehicles were installed, up 110.6 percent year on year.

The production of power batteries in July alone was 47.2 gigawatt-hours, up 172.2 percent year on year.
