The French Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin, announced that “more than 187 people were arrested as part of the ‘place net XXL’ anti-drug operations” in Marseille the previous week and Monday morning in several cities in France.

Indeed, these operations took place simultaneously in several cities, notably in Marseille, in the Lille metropolis, in the Lyon metropolitan area, in Dijon and in the Paris region.

Darmanin said the goal was “to interview 850 people” and that we were regarding “a quarter of that goal.” He further stressed the importance of security for all residents, particularly those in working-class neighborhoods.
“Our collective job is to show all residents, and especially those in working-class neighborhoods, that security is for them”

On the first day of the operation in Marseille, 900 police officers, gendarmes and customs officers were mobilized, and following three days, 22 kilos of narcotics, more than 385,000 euros in cash or assets, and four weapons were seized, with 71 people placed in police custody.

Note that similar operations will be carried out in other cities in the days and weeks to come
