Muvattupuzha: Urban Co-operative Bank MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan has said that he will take over the debt of the Dalit family whose house was confiscated. The basis of the house will be repaid by paying the money in the bank. He also said that help would be provided for the treatment of the householder who is in hospital.

The MLA said the house was demolished and the children were allowed back into the house following seeing the helplessness of the minor girls whose house was confiscated and evicted while their parents were being treated at the hospital. Politics was not involved in the incident. I do not want to do that.

As soon as he came to know regarding the incident, Gopi, the chairman of the bank, tried to contact Kottamurugal. The MLA said that the girls had done their duty as representatives of the people while staying in the yard of the house at night and would face any action in this regard.

The bank confiscated Ajesh’s house at Valiyaparambil in Payipra Pezhakappilly. Ajesh is undergoing treatment at Ernakulam General Hospital.

Debt recovery measures should be implemented with humane pollination. That did not happen in the case of this family. Banks have expedited the process of recovering loans despite the recommendation of a committee appointed to study the situation in the state due to the provisions of the Act to require the Central Government to exempt co-operative banks from the purview of the Surfasy Act.

The committee had also recommended that the law be amended to replace loans above Rs 1 lakh and only loans above Rs 10 lakh.
