Ronaldo, who returned to United for a second spell last summer, helped keep his side’s hopes of a top-four spot alive by scoring a hat-trick in their 3-2 win over Norwich City.
Coach Ralph Rangik spoke regarding the 37-year-old following the match with MUTV: “He’s amazing! The second and third goals were fantastic. He showed a lot of physical and mental strength that he has, and he made the difference.”

launch of the 1st direct flight between Tel-Aviv and Sharm el-Sheikh – Agence Afrique
Israel and Egypt inaugurated on Sunday a first direct air link between the cities of Tel Aviv and Sharm el-Sheikh, the Egyptian seaside resort located on the Red Sea, announced the Israeli national company El Al.
“The first flight 5193 of the Sun Dor company of the El Al group, bound for Sharm el-Sheikh, takes off this morning at 10:15 a.m. from Ben Gurion airport (07:15 GMT), it is the first flight of an airline towards Sharm el-Sheikh,” El Al said in a statement.
Direct flights already connect Israel’s Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv with that of Cairo, Egypt. The two countries have recently strengthened their relations.
In early October, a plane from the Egyptian flag carrier Egypt Air landed in Israel for the first time. Flights between the two countries were previously provided by a subsidiary of Egypt Air, Sinai Air, whose planes did not display the Egyptian flag.
Since coming to power last June, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has visited Egypt twice, in September to meet President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and last month for a Summit with the latter and Prince heir to the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.
This trilateral meeting was the first of its kind between the leaders of Egypt, Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The three leaders discussed trilateral relations and recent developments on regional issues in the Egyptian seaside city of Sharm el-Sheikh, on the shores of the Red Sea, the Egyptian Presidency announced in a press release.
Since the normalization of its relations, in 2020, with the Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco, Israel has inaugurated direct flights with these countries.
fetuses exposed to these substances would sleep longer in adolescence
THE ESSENTIAL
- Chlorpyrifos and pyrethroids are two pesticides that are often found in insecticides.
- Sleep needs vary from one person to another, they generally vary between 6 and 10 hours.
“Our study shows that early exposure to pesticides, even before a child is born, can have lasting effects on adolescent sleep health,” says Astrid Zamora, lead author of a study published in the journal Environmental Research.
During their work, the scientists studied the exposure of women to non-professional pesticides, that is to say those present in certain everyday products such as insecticides, or even in food. More specifically, they sought to understand the impact of two of them: chlorpyrifos and pyrethroids.
Longer sleep for girls only
For this, they analyzed urine samples from 137 pregnant women taken during their third trimester of pregnancy. They lived in Mexico. Then they did a sleep study of their child once they were teenagers.
Results: they discovered that the exposure of pregnant women to chlorpyrifos had consequences on the sleep of their children once they were teenagers… But only in girls. Indeed, the teenagers concerned had a longer sleep duration than the fetuses which had not been exposed to chlorpyrifos. On the other hand, the scientists did not observe any consequences on sleep with exposure to pyrethroids.
A limitation of this study
“Overall, these findings are of public health significance given the widespread and ongoing agricultural and possibly residential use of pyrethroids and chlorpyrifos in Mexico”estimate Astrid Zamora.
One of the methodological limitations of this study concerns the devices used to analyze the sleep of adolescent girls. These deniers cannot distinguish sleep from the mere fact of remaining still. Thus, scientists do not know if this longer sleep duration is real, or if it is due to sleep disorders or nocturnal awakenings.
The need for further research
In the future, they therefore want to continue their research in order to determine the reasons for this higher sleep duration. “Studies with larger sample sizes and evaluating unregulated pesticides are needed to better understand this association, as well as the underlying mechanisms that explain gender differences,” concludes Astrid Zamora.
Super League: Lausanne-Sport wins in relegation battle against Lugano
The game
For the first time this season, Lausanne-Sport can record two home wins in a row. Led by a strong Zeki Amdouni, following Servette two weeks ago, the people of Vaud are now also sending Lugano home 4-1.
Amdouni secured Lausanne’s three before the break with a superb goal to make it 2-0. The bottom of the table goes into the second round with a two-goal lead, but victory is never really in danger. A brief revolt by Lugano, which is very well rewarded with the interim 3:1, is not enough for a turnaround. Lugano would have had the chance to finish in the top 3 and thus have a look at Europe. But the Ticino are surprisingly listless on the pitch. Unlike Lausanne. Amdouni put the end of the game in the 90th minute from the penalty point to 4:1.
The goals
23. Minute, 1: 0 Adrien Trebel: Kukuruzovic corners low in the middle where Trebel stands by and scores to give the home team the lead.
45. Minute, 2:0 Zeki Amdouni: The young striker flicks the ball wonderfully into the upper left corner. Lugano keeper Saipi has absolutely no chance.
60. Minute, 3:0 Brahima Ouattara: With luck, the ball somehow gets from Coyle to Ouattara, who doesn’t need to be asked twice and inserts it to make it 3-0.
74 minutes, 3-1 Maxime Poundje (own goal): After a cross from the right, Castella and Poundje obstruct each other and the ball ends up in their own goal via the Lausanne defender. A very unfortunate action.
90th Minute, 4:1 Zeki Amdouni: After Kevin Rüegg fouled Hicham Mahou, Amdouni converted the penalty without any problems.
The best
Zeki Amdouni. The Luganesi never really get a grip on the lively Lausanne striker. The Swiss-Turk hits the Ticino practically with the break and the final whistle.
The worst
Ignacio Aliseda. Most Luganesi disappoint across the board – but he doesn’t even have one good scene. Must leave following 57 minutes.
That was something to talk regarding
After YB’s defeat at FC Zurich, FC Lugano can climb to third place and thus reach for the European competition. But the people of Ticino don’t seem to want that. The appearance in the Stade de la Tuiliere is simply insufficient.
Here’s how to proceed
The weeks of truth are coming up for Lausanne. First, the last one has to go away to GC, then FC Luzern will come to Lake Geneva on May 1st. Next up for Lugano is the cup fight once morest Lucerne at home (Thursday, 7.45 p.m.), then the away game in St. Gallen.
