Vaginismus is overcome by learning to know your body.
Often guilt-ridden and taboo, vaginismus prevents many women from consulting. However, it has nothing to do with a vagina that is too small or an anatomical anomaly, and can be treated very well with appropriate support.
Deconstructing women’s guilt
Vaginismus, that is to say the impossibility of vaginal penetration without pain, whether it is a penis, a finger or a tampon, is a sexual disorder which would affect approximately 1% of women. It has nothing to do with a morphological abnormality, but rather with such a strong muscular contraction of the muscles of the perineum, that any penetration becomes painful.
Most often, the family context, the lack of sexual education and knowledge of one’s own body, as well as moral or religious taboos, contribute to the impossibility of penetration without pain.
What solutions exist?
By starting by consulting her doctor, gynecologist, midwife or sexologist, the word is freed up and the professional can thus relieve the patient of guilt. The therapy combines both listening to suffering and discovering one’s own anatomy so that it is no longer taboo.
The help of a specialized physiotherapist can help through relaxation exercises to relax the muscles of the perineum, and the use of vaginal dilators. Finally, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), or hypnosis, may be needed to work on fear and apprehension.

Around 8:15 a.m. this Saturday, the president-elect, Gustav Petro, met with the natural head of the Liberal party, former president Cesar Gaviria.
“Meeting begins between the elected president of Colombia and the head of the Liberal Party. Being Liberal, the path to equality. The Colombia of today and the liberal reforms of the future”, confirmed the Liberal party on its Twitter account.
Former President Gaviria traveled to Florence (Italy) to talk with Gustavo Petro –who is in Europe on vacation, following the second presidential round–. This meeting occurs following the liberal caucus anticipate that it will not be opposed by the incoming government.
According to what has transpired, the Gaviria-Petro meeting takes place to discuss the legislative agenda that begins on July 20 and in which the Liberal party –if it confirms its adherence to the government coalition– it would contribute 14 senators and 32 representatives to the House.
This is the second meeting held by politicians since the second presidential round. On June 22, former President Gaviria also spoke with Petro.
“We are ready to wait for the position regarding our participation and political representation of the elected President. This will allow us to make a decision on how we are going to collaborate with the Petro Government”, Gaviria had pointed out.
A knife-wielding man injured four people in a renowned hospital in Shanghai on Saturday, before being shot and injured by security forces who managed to subdue him, police said.
Calls for help from Ruijin Hospital, located in the center of the Chinese economic capital, were received at the end of the morning by the police who immediately dispatched agents.
“Police quickly arrived on the scene and found a man holding a group of people hostage with a knife on the seventh floor of the hospital,” police said in a statement.
“When the suspect attempted to attack the hostages and officers, police opened fire to wound and subdue him,” the statement added.
Four people were injured and were placed in care without any vital signs being visibly threatened, said the police.
The motives for the assault remain unclear at this time.
On videos published by Chinese media, we see the police entering a closed room of the hospital. Another video, which is circulating extensively on social media, shows the public fleeing the building.
Mass crimes are rare in China where the carrying of firearms is strictly prohibited, but stabbings do occur occasionally.
